Rhiannon

Rhiannon, born and educated in Glasgow, was introduced to the bassoon whilst a pupil at Lenzie Academy – after a brief spell on the clarinet. She is now completing her first year of post graduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland - studying Bassoon with David Hubbard (RSNO) and Contrabassoon with Simon Davies (Hallé).

Rhiannon has performed with a number leading orchestras in Scotland such as the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and most regularly with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra - recently embarking on their successful European Tour in May 2018.
She also has developed a great love for the contrabassoon and is currently on trial for the RSNO vacant position of Principal Contrabassoon.

In August 2018, she returned as concerto soloist to the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra to perform Weber’s Bassoon Concerto on three nights of their Summer Tour.
In 2017 she won a place on the Scottish Chamber Orchestra apprenticeship scheme and is looking forward to returning to perform again with them in December later this year.

In 2016 Rhiannon was invited to participate with the Palestine Youth Orchestra on their UK National Tour and introduced the orchestra (in Arabic) at the Festival Hall, in London.

In September 2018, Rhiannon is taking part in the Erasmus programme and is moving to spend a term studying abroad at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague in The Netherlands, before returning to Glasgow in February to complete her Masters degree.

Rhiannon is kindly supported by Help Musicians UK and the Wolfson Trust.
